Leadership for People ~ Good Decision Making for Dogs

About Us

Steve started off as a rescue volunteer by fostering, training, and placing shelter and rescue dogs in the mid-1990s.  He continues to support rescue organizations with pro bono training and post-placement assistance.  Wile E. Coyote, the dog who got him into rescue work often comes out of retirement and into class to demonstrate.

He began offering his skills to private and class clients four years ago.  His interest in competitive obedience began in 2005 at the encouragement of his mentors to test and sharpen his training ability in nationally recognized venues.  With his rescue Doberman  Naboo von Sussex, he has earned over a dozen blue ribbons, trophies, "High Scoring . . ." awards.

His "Life Skills for Dogs" classes teach varied, balanced techniques that key into the dog's innate learning style.  Students learn to tie the classroom exercises into everyday, real life skills.  Each team learn skills that recognize the individuality of each dog and handler.  He emphasizes results, manners, leadership, patience, exercise, mutual respect, and recognition of a dog's pride in the 'work' of being a valued pack member.  Students learn to develop a close bond between dog and family.

Steve is a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals and the American Dog Owner's Association. He continues to attend seminars and presentations by nationally recognized trainers and instructors.  All of his students are encouraged to attain the AKC's Canine Good Citizen Certificate and then move on into other dog activities that will expand their skills, deepen their relationship, and provide the good times that all dogs live for.
