Private Training
Board & Train
Day Camp & Train

We offer Private Training sessions at our location or in your home to suit special and specific needs.  These sessions are for those who prefer or need help one-on-one with problems such as:

  • Leash pulling, jumping, and barking
  • In-depth work on obedience commands
  • Aggression toward people or other animals
  • Problems that seem to happen only at home

In our Board & Train program, your dog stays at Camp Bow Wow and in addition to the regular group exercise time with other dogs, he’ll receive one or more structured, one-on-one training sessions each day.  The length, frequency, and the actual training performed are agreed upon before the stay begins.  The owners receive knowledge transfer training on handling and maintaining their dog at peak performance when they pick him up.

Board & Train programs are generally several weeks in duration to allow adequate time for the dog to adjust to working with the trainer and to permit the dog to fully internalize the lessons. This program works well for both problem solving and teaching skills more quickly and thoroughly than other approaches.  Many dogs can accomplish the Life Skills for Dogs 1st level class series in half the time.  The owner must still ‘use it or lose it’ and continue maintenance work after the dog goes home.

On completion of their program, owners of Board and Train dogs are eligible and encouraged to attend both Working Sessions and the Life Skills for Dogs classes with our compliments, free of charge.

Board & Train programs are individualized and admission is based on the problems to be solved, skills to be learned, and are subject to the temperament of the dog.  A private lesson usually precedes the stay, and the price is recouped in the course of the program.

Day Camp & Train is similar to Board & Train but is done in one or more sessions per week.  The trainer's time offsets much of the teaching time usually invested by the owner during a regular class.  The regular Day Camp program is supplemented the same day by structured, individual training sessions.  Owners need to allow time at the end of the day pickup to learn how to follow through with the day’s lesson (usually 15 – 30 minutes.)  Dog and owner can come to Working Sessions to polish their skills at no charge.  Life Skills for Dogs is included at no charge after the dog attends an extended number of Day Camp and Train sessions.

If you have a number of problems to solve or skills to learn, then Board & Train or Day Camp & Train might just be the answer for you.  Contact us to discuss a personalized curriculum or to find out whether these programs are right for you and your dog.
